The recruiting specialist is responsible for lead and application generation, as well as inquiry management for the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) at the University of Central Oklahoma. Serving as an admissions recruiter and counselor, this position is responsible for identifying, contacting, and maintaining relationships with prospective students from the point of inquiry through matriculation. In addition, this individual maintains application files and inquiry records, plans on-campus and off-campus programs, and conducts business outreach, which includes participation in networking events, sponsorships, professional association meetings, and conferences. This position works collaboratively with the university admissions staff, the CFAD marketing department, CFAD Deans, and the College of Fine Arts Department Chairs and Director.
This position is enrollment-driven and student-focused. It involves creating and maintaining a regular, cyclical schedule related to admission and application deadlines. The responsibilities are varied and will require a flexible schedule to accommodate required work on some evenings and weekends.
Networking, relationship management and lead generation are among the core responsibilities of this position. Effective candidates will be required to frequently communicate with students, faculty, staff, alumni and other external audiences. Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, professional comportment and team-orientation are essential for success. Program planning and management experience will also be utilized.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Developing a recruiting strategy in consultation with Department Chairs and Directors.
Identifying feeder schools.
Organizing and attending high school visits to recruit prospective students.
Attending in and out-of-state recruitment events.
Establishing and maintaining relationships and collaborations with high schools and community colleges.
Conducting classroom and group presentations at high schools, community colleges, organizations and local cities.
The ability to Input prospective student data into data management system.
Follow-through communication with prospective students using Customer Relationship Maintenance software, text, email, or telephone as necessary.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree in related field to this position plus 3+ years of relevant experience or if no degree, 7+ years of work experience that provides knowledge and expertise to achieve results.
A valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire, is required for this job.
Ability to travel by vehicle locally, statewide and/or out of state.
Reliable form of transportation to be able to travel to different sites across the assigned territory. If using personal vehicle, proof of insurance must be provided.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience in Admissions and Recruitment in Higher Education.
Customer service, sales or marketing experience highly preferred.
Must possess general knowledge of higher education markets.
Great organizational skills and planning.
Preference given to applicants with a degree or experience in one of the program areas within the College of Fine Arts and Design.
Self-starting, positive life outlook, and motivated personality.
A passion for the arts; visual and performance.
Ability to relate to a diverse applicant/student population as well as to various members of the higher education community. Ability to work well under pressure and give attention to details. Must demonstrate strong decision-making and organizational skills delivered from a client-centered perspective. Excellent oral/written communication and personal computing skills.
