Development Fellow

Description:
The Development Fellow supports and assists with the day-to-day management of the Development Department of the Office of the Arts.
Reporting the Senior Manager of Development Operations, the Development Fellow also supports the Foundation and Leadership teams by preparing research, gift entry, gift reporting, and handling logistics for Development events, in addition to larger projects such as appeals and donor/prospect moves management.

Required Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask, prioritize, manage stressful situations, and handle confidential matters
Strong interpersonal and communication skills Detail oriented with excellent follow-through Experienced with Word and Excel; familiar with or able to learn additional computer software (AudienceView, Banner, scheduling/calendar programs, etc.)

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge:
Strong writing/editing skills Experience with event planning and management

Required Prior Work Experience:
1-2 years of related development experience

Job Duties:
  • Serve as initial point of contact for gift entry, acknowledgement, and reporting: • Enter gifts into ticketing system and coordinate delivery of gift information to Institutional Advancement (IA), with appropriate information to ensure proper entry by the IA gift processor into Banner. • Draft and mail acknowledgement letters, and save appropriate backup according to policies/procedures • Weekly reconciliation of reports from IA and Finance’s Banner systems with those in the ArtsEmerson gift database, and manage corrections when necessary
  • Organize logistics for Development events including donor receptions, opening night receptions, and other development-related events. Book space for rooms, order catering, manage the setting of space and, when necessary, prepare/print agenda, and print nametags and tents. Coordinate with the Box Office to track RSVPs and send attendance to necessary team members In conjunction with the Box Office, manage ticket requests from donors, VIPs, and community partners
  • Coordinate with Senior Manager of Development Operations to manage database-related tasks, including: • Pull lists and run reports for appeals and other mailings, including preparing and executing mail merges. • Maintain and update donor profiles in Development database and other relevant folders in Box. • Research prospecting information for individuals, corporations, and foundations. • Update shared Operations Calendar with important event dates and Development-related deadlines. • Maintain organized current-use and archive files in the Development folder in Box. • Extract and send daily/weekly Call Over reports from AV, including VIP reports containing information for tracked donors and prospects
  • Active participation in departmental meetings and events Attend meetings with IA department of Emerson College and other Development-related meetings Attend and support donor related events Document and disperse minutes from Development team meetings and retreats.
