The Clayman Institute for Gender Research, an innovative and forward-thinking research Institute, creates knowledge and implements change that promotes gender equality. With an over forty-year history and as one of the oldest gender research institutes in the country, the Institute sets a broad research agenda, translates gender research, educates the Stanford community and beyond, and convenes interdisciplinary networks of scholars. Currently we are focused on “reinvigorating the stalled gender revolution.”


The Clayman Institute seeks to hire a program manager for six months, filling in while an employee is on leave, beginning the first week of September. Core duties are: manage development operations and support leadership in development efforts, including coordinating communications with prospective and existing donors and providing strategic analysis and guidance for development-related events and meetings; and managing institute programs, including event coordination and community outreach, and supervision of direct reports. CORE DUTIES*:

  • Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program, including finance, development, and operations. Act as key contact.
  • Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Represent the program or function to external constituencies.
  • Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include communications, events, training, and/or conferences. May participate in development of budgets or oversee budgets and monitor and approve expenditures.
  • May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.

  • Relevant subject matter knowledge.

  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

  • Occasionally use a telephone.

  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
