The University of Miami (UM) seeks an innovative, strategic and accomplished Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations to lead its comprehensive philanthropic activities across the University, including its highly renowned academic medical center.

Under the leadership of President Julio Frenk M.D., the University of Miami continues to advance its national and international reputation as a fully comprehensive private research university with an exceptional track record of education on both the graduate and undergraduate level, an outstanding academic medical center, accomplished professional schools, NCAA Division I athletics, a loyal alumni base, and one of the nation’s most beautiful campuses. The new senior vice president will have the opportunity to partner with a visionary president, an active and invested board along with engaged deans to lead a comprehensive campaign (currently in the silent stage) that will culminate during the University’s centennial anniversary in 2025.

Embarking on his third year, President Julio Frenk, M.D. brings new vision that is far reaching with his Roadmap to Our New Century - a plan to guide the University to increase its impact on improving and solving key societal issues. As president, Frenk has attracted tremendous talent in building an inspirational, fresh and entrepreneurial senior team to drive both the academic and administrative enterprise. As such, the next chief development officer will join the campus during a time of great energy, transformation and excitement. As it looks to its future, Miami is seeking a seasoned senior vice president with unquestioned integrity who will bring considerable, successful experience as a strong, innovative, vibrant and strategic advancement leader to help articulate and raise the resources required to execute the president’s dynamic and ambitious vision for the University.

The University of Miami’s last campaign Momentum 2: The Breakthrough Campaign for the University of Miami was completed in 2015 and surpassed its $1.6 billion goal more than a year ahead of schedule. The University has been successful in raising philanthropic resources from both a loyal and generous alumni population. Additionally, the University of Miami has received significant gifts from non-affiliated friends of the University that identify with its mission to educate and nurture students, to create knowledge, and to provide service to the Miami community and beyond. The comprehensive campaign for the University’s 2025 centennial will raise money for endowment and other key strategic objectives.
