Position Summary: THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH POLICY AND MANAGEMENT, UNC GILLINGS SCHOOL OF GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH, UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL is seeking applicants for a fixed-term position Clinical open rank Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor preferred. We seek highly-qualified individuals to teach graduate-level courses in one or more of the following areas: U.S. health care system, health policy, and health care management (e.g., strategy, human resource management, organizational behavior, leadership). We seek a person interested in developing and teaching an introduction to public health course with faculty from other Departments and disciplines, as well as someone who is interested in teaching in both residential and online formats. In addition to teaching, the selected faculty member would be expected to advise and mentor students, including research papers. Applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. The anticipated start date will be as early as January 2018 or when the position is filled. The Department offers the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. The MPH is available residentially and the School offers an online option. The MHA is offered in both residential and executive (non-residential hybrid) formats. The Department currently has more than 40 full-time faculty and over 100 joint and adjunct faculty. The health services research base is strong and growing. The teaching program is outstanding and dynamic with substantial ongoing investment in excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. Successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary faculty and will actively contribute to the department through teaching and service.
Education Requirements: A master's or doctoral degree (preferred) in health policy and management, business administration, public health, or a related field.
Qualification and Experience: *Significant experience working in health care or public health settings, domestically or globally. *An appreciation of intersecting areas such as population health management, managing in a global health setting, quality improvement methods, health disparities, and vulnerable populations. *Experience with teaching in a distance format. *Experience with high-engagement teaching approaches, such as team-based learning, case methods, problem-based learning, simulations, and field-based methods.
