Posting Summary:
The Arabic language program in the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Virginia invites applications for an Arabic Instructor to begin in the fall 2017 (August 22nd). This is a one-semester-only position. Spring renewal is contingent on sufficient enrollment and the instructor's satisfactory performance. The teaching load is only one course per semester. Compensation will take the form of wages

Required Qualifications:

Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic with strong competence in FusHa (Modern Standard Arabic) and fluency in English. MA degree is required in Applied Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching or a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include previous teacher training and materials development; an ability and interest in teaching advanced level courses in Arabic; and experience with teaching FusHa Arabic at the postsecondary level using a proficiency-based, communicative methodology.
