The Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Health Promotion Facilitator position in the South East Counties of Colorado.

Position Information

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

This position will facilitate and implement one or more of the five COWP components in one of the following geographic areas: Denver metro area, El Paso, Pueblo or Southeast Counties in Colorado. The responsibilities include working with preschoolers, parents, and school staff in preschools on areas of nutrition, physical activity and overall workplace wellness utilizing best practices.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this full-time position has been established at $38,000 - $45,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level experience in career counseling, advising and coaching for individual students and alumni.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must possess and maintain current valid driver's license, reliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and personal automobile liability insurance.
  • Must be willing and able to drive own vehicle for work as needed (state mileage reimbursement available.)
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings, before school starts and after school ends, staying within allotted hours per week.
  • Must be able to comfortably lift 25 pounds and perform minimal physical demands.

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Master's degree in education, psychology, health care, educational technology, social science, public health or related field.
  • Experience with health promotion work in a school setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • At least 2 years of experience in an education setting including 1 year conducting research.

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
    • Outstanding customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
    • Ability to interact with diverse populations and economically disadvantaged communities
    • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
