Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience with a record of significant accomplishments in managing a diverse academic or research support environment is required. Excellent communication skills are required. Previous demonstrated experience in leadership, team building, creativity, flexibility, collaboration, organization assessment, decision-making, staff development, systems expertise and proactive problem solving is required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments, work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Knowledge of UW-Madison policies and procedures, and significant experience in programs administration is highly desirable.
The Research Animal Resources Center (RARC) is based in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. RARC is multidisciplinary in scope and provides veterinary and operational support to the UW-Madison animal care and use program. The animal program involves all aspects of animal use for research, teaching, and outreach. The Center has strong research, administrative, and teaching links to the UW-Madison College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College and Letters and Science, School of Medicine and Public Health, School of Veterinary Medicine, and other OVCRGE Centers. RARC employs a staff of approximately 60 people, including academic staff, university staff, undergraduate students, and temporatry employees (TEs).
