Job Description

Provides technical analysis and development of computer based data and web application solutions. This position serves as a technical lead to support vendor and in-house developed applications by conceptualizing applications to improve the delivery of administrative services to students, faculty and staff. Performs troubleshooting and data analysis in support of administrative applications utilized throughout the college.

DEVELOPMENT -Responsible for design, analysis, writing code, testing, debugging and documentation of applications across multiple platforms. Maintains and updates existing codebases using development standards and procedures. Provide appropriate documentation, testing, and quality assurance.

ANALYSIS AND CONSULTATION - Provide insight and solutions for Ad Hoc/SQL requests and troubleshooting issues. Data integrity and security is maintained within Banner databases and systems. Consult with Sr. Enterprise Data Analyst and Project Managers to validate development approaches for compliance with current system architecture and business processes of the college. Regularly renew awareness of industry and vendor trends. Suggest best-case solutions for strategic goals based on data availability, security and system architecture. Deliver on-call support 24x7x365 for mission critical products.

MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT - Respond to customer inquiries to resolve data issues. Debug vendor-based software. Provide technical on-call support 24x7x365 for products that are mission critical throughout the college.

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities.

Required Skills

  • Associates degree required in Computer Science, Computer Information Services or related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in programming in an integrated database information system environment.

  • Experience with Relational Database Management systems (Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL Developer).
  • Knowledge of Linux Shell scripting and programming languages (C, Perl and COBOL).
  • Experience in web development technologies like PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks such as jQuery, Bootstrap, Backbone.js/Angular.js, SASS, and Laravel.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
