Summary of Job Duties

The successful applicant will work closely with agronomists, crop physiologists, and molecular geneticists aimed at confirming the breeding value of molecular markers identified previously in soybean. In this research, we will evaluate the utility of these molecular markers in improving drought tolerance, determine the stability of these traits across extremely different environments, and begin pyramiding favorable genes for each trait as well as stack these traits into improved germplasm lines for release.

Duties include coordinating experiments with cooperators at four locations and collating uniform data sets on phenology, weather, crop management, and agronomic and physiological traits from field experiments. The incumbent will also be responsible for analyzing physiological, genetic, and genomic data, presenting results at professional meetings, writing quarterly reports, and writing and publishing results in appropriate journals in collaboration with other scientists on the project.

Ph.D. in Agronomy or Plant Biology with demonstrated experience in association mapping, genomic selection, and statistics. Experience with field experimentation and multi-location data analyses.
