Clinical Revenue Management Associate Chief Revenue Officer is an integral leader of Revenue Cycle and accountable for enterprise-wide management oversight of people, processes, and technology including:
• Health Information Management
o Oversight for hospital coding, and medical records management
o Key Performance Indicators Include: Coding Denials, Post-suspense Work-in-Process, Timely Workflow Completion, Productivity, Quality Assessment
• Professional Fee Coding, Charge Capture, and Revenue Cycle Management
o Responsible for centralized coding functions of professional fee coding. Also includes charge capture activities and initiatives related to accurate and effective charge capture.
o Acts as the key contact responsible for the oversight of relationships with Clinical Department Chairs, Associate Chairs, Division Chiefs, Department Administrators, and providers for any professional fee revenue cycle management services.
o Key Performance Indicators Include: Coding and Front-End Professional -fee Denials, Post-suspense Work-in-Process, Timely Workflow Completion, Staff Productivity, Staff Quality Assessment
• Utilization Review
o Responsible for obtaining proper inpatient authorizations as well as the assignment of patient types for emergency admits
o Key Performance Indicators Include: IP Authorization Denials, Timely Workflow Completion, Productivity, Quality Assessment
• Clinical Documentation Improvement
o Responsible for clinical documentation quality and downstream effects of documentation on patient safety and reimbursement. Documentation must meet expected standards. Expectations and feedback must be routed to clinical leaders where needed.
o Key Performance Indicators Include: Medical Necessity Denials, Documentation Review Results, Productivity, Quality Assessment
In addition to achieving success with the above key performance indicators, it is critical that this leader is able to:
• Develop and effectively leverage relationships with clinical leadership, physicians, and executive level leaders
• Demonstrate strength in leveraging detailed analytics and reporting to accomplish agreed upon goals established with executive leadership
• Demonstrate strength in effectively executing initiatives driving increases in net revenue
