The Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center leads, supports, and sustains a culture of accountability to eliminate violence and oppression at UK. The VIP Center is currently seeking an VIP Director Assistant (VIP Assistant Director).
The VIP Assistant Director will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the VIP Center including provision of direct services to victims of interpersonal violence, maintaining documentation, and assessment of programs. The Assistant Director will cross-train with the Director to be able to address all aspects of the VIP Centers services and provide leadership in the absence of the VIP Director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Design, implementation, and evaluation of the intervention program strategies including: victim advocacy service provision, coordinated response efforts, aggregate data collection and management, and outreach.
• Provide direct advocacy services to victims of violence by providing crisis and ongoing consultation including informing survivors of their rights and options.
• Coordination and provision of training and consultation to those responding to violence, including law enforcement, campus conduct, Title IX and healthcare.
• Provide campus and community education, training, prevention, and outreach to provide information about sexual and gender-based interpersonal violence, active bystander intervention, and VIP Center services.
• Build and maintain partnerships with key individuals and groups on campus and within the community that will enhance and support the campus and community response to sexual and gender-based interpersonal violence.
• Represent the UK VIP Center to the Lexington community as well as entire state.

Physical Requirements

Sitting for extended periods of time and repetitive motion tasks. Regular exposure to Human Trauma.


Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hours/week)
Occasional evenings, nights and weekends as needed.


Knowledge of victim advocacy; crisis response and management skills; strong interpersonal and empathetic skills; understanding of victim advocacy and related issues; organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work well with others; effective public speaking skills; ability to find and make connections with campus and community resources.
