The University of Puget Sound Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-line position in mathematics beginning Fall 2018 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is seeking a tenure-line assistant professor with expertise in statistics or applied mathematics with some background in statistics. The standard teaching assignment is three courses per semester of lower- and upper-level undergraduate courses within the department's curriculum. Other duties include continuation of professional development, supervision of undergraduate research projects, advising students, and participation in departmental and university governance.

Qualifications:

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses in statistics or applied mathematics. Candidates are generally expected to teach two lower-level courses, including both introductory and intermediate applied statistics, and one upper-level course each semester.

The University of Puget Sound is a selective liberal arts college, and candidates should have a commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests can incorporate or generate undergraduate research projects.
