Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Dairy Records Management Systems (DRMS) in Raleigh was established in 1957 to process Dairy Herd Improvement (DHI) records for North Carolina and adjoining states in a cooperative effort. DRMS currently provides dairy management information and products to 21 DHIA's with herds in 45 states. Over 12,000 herds with more than 2 million cows are processed each month making DRMS the largest volume dairy processing center in the United States. DRMS generates approximately $6.2M a year in revenue & expenses, billing over 700 customers.

Essential Job Duties: The Accountant serves as part of a team responsible for accounting support for 9 Dairy Records Management Systems (DRMS) business partners who utilize financial systems external to NCSU (QuickBooks, Paychex, Method, Concur, DUO Mobile and custom-built software) as well as internal accounting and human resources functions for DRMS. Within in DRMS, the accounting team is responsible for university accounting, DRMS subsidiary ledger recording and reporting, external business partner financial processes (automated transaction recording, reporting, reconciliation, maintenance, enhancement, deployment, and education). The accounting team processes financial transactions for DRMS to include payment vouchers, journal vouchers, inter-departmental transfers, requisitions, marketplace approvals, PCard reconciliations, personal reimbursements, travel reimbursements, check deposits, fixed assets, and grant deposits. DRMS Subsidiary Ledger Accounting Members of the team maintain and enhance the external billing system which calculate charges for dairy producers, DHIAs (business partners), and industry partners (nutritionists, artificial insemination companies, veterinarians, etc.). The accounting team records, analyzes, reports and budgets financial transactions for the DRMS subsidiary ledger. The financial transactions include expense/revenue recording, receivable/liability recording, accruals, fixed asset accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting (management staff and external board), customer payment recording, and deposits. The team maintains, enhances, tests, and rollouts complex financial systems, which calculate, record and track all aspects of each customer's invoice, employee payroll, and financial reporting for customers. Maintains multiple custom-developed and purchased vendor financial systems, designed to flow data from dairy producer's farm to customer's bank account. Accounting team provides accounting support and guidance for customers on daily operations, complex accounting issues, payroll processing, account reconciliation, fixed asset accounting, process improvements, and process/system education. The team is responsible for all aspects of HR for DRMS (Leave Coordinator, Payroll, New Hire Process, etc.)

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Ability to learn custom designed financial systems Strong accounting background and knowledge. Excellent communication skills (written & oral). Basic project management abilities. Data analysis capabilities. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Strong leadership and the ability to work collaboratively with a team. Attention to detail.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Minimum 5 years experience in accounting processes and systems Quickbooks, Paychex, Concur, Method, and basic SQL experience a plus

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: CPA/CMA preferred
