Occupational Summary

Assist with project planning and management support to the Duke Human Vaccine Institute to meet the requirements of the Duke Clinical Vaccine and Treatment Unit (DVTU) clinical trials, including but not limited to those done in support of the DMID Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU) Program, the CDC Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment (CISA) Project and the DAIDS HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN).

Work Performed

Develop and define project goals and monitor and evaluate project effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative tools and recommend and implement modifications to improve effectiveness and meet project milestones.

Plan, coordinate, and manage activities of assigned projects to include developing and implementing procedures, processes, and systems; train employees in methods and procedures to ensure project continuity and completeness.

Develop project management plans using Gantt charts, and develop communication plans with the project team.

Proactively assess and analyze with the team, any risks and issues that may compromise project results and develop plans to remove or mitigate them.

Monitor schedules and risk management plans and provide warnings of serious deviations or variations that may compromise project results.

Plan, lead, and facilitate regular cross-functional project team meetings.

Develop detailed task lists and work effort assessment and short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all key players and team members.

Draft project proposals, including operational requirements, pricing and schedules for projects; make operational and project decisions that have a significant impact on the successful achievement of project strategies and objectives related to DVTU projects. Maintain liaison with sponsors, clinical sites at Duke and external to Duke, regulatory/compliance offices and departments at Duke/DHVI to coordinate projects to accomplish program objectives; interface with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts, positive progress, and project success.

Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external clients to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts, and budgets.

Ensure required project data and information is regularly communicated to the project teams; generate and issue regular internal and external project reports for managed.

Perform any other assignments deemed necessary by the Principal Investigator or Director of Program Management.

Coordinate conference calls with project sponsors and collaborators.

Take and distribute detailed minutes from call for review and modify minutes based on comment.

Education

Bachelor's degree. Additional training in Project Management or related training is desired.

Experience
