RESEARCH SPECIALIST B/C
Duties: The ideal candidate for the Research Specialist B position will have small animal (rodent) experience, and preferably breeding, husbandry and genotyping. Duties include crossing conditional knockout mice with established tumor models to test the role of the transcription factor ATF4 in regulating primary and metastatic growth in syngeneic tumor models. A major duty will be to set up mating cages, maintain an electronic record of genotypes and genotyping with the help of trained work-study undergraduate students. Another major duty will be to act as a lab manager, responsible for ordering supplies and mice and managing budgets. Under the Lab manager duties, he/she will also train new hires in health and safety procedures, ensure lab compliance with chemical and radiation safety and maintaining day-to-day operations of the lab.
In addition to the above duties, the Research Specialist 'C' will develop and perform experiments involving primary or metastatic tumor removal, sectioning and occasionally perform immunohistochemistry . Write and maintain animal protocols.
Qualifications: Research Specialist B: Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Research Specialist C: Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
