Duties: Primary responsibilities will include researching, designing, planning, and implementing experimental procedures including: western blotting, microscopy techniques siRNA transfection, lentiviral vector preparation, cDNA subcloning, plasmid preparation (maxiprep/miniprep/sequence verification/DNA gels), cell culture, T cell activation and lentiviral transduction, ELISA, PCR, animal injections, tumor harvest and digestion, and flow cytometry. Research and design new experimental procedures and projects for discovery of cellular and molecular mechanisms of T cell hypofunction in tumor microenvironment and implementation of strategies to overcome them. As well, they will analyze experimental results by preparing figures, tables, and summarizing data to assist in producing scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and grant applications. In addition, they train and oversee daily work of junior research personnel and troubleshoot problems with personnel and/or experimental procedures.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A Master's degree in one of the following fields with 3-5 years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required: immunology, biology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or other related fields. Expertise in performing basic scientific assays including: RNA/DNA extraction, protein preparation, PCR and real-time PCR, western blot analysis, ELISA, flow cytometry are essential. Familiarity with basic concepts of cell-cell signaling, T cell activation, and molecular biology are required. A strong background in cell and molecular biology, tissue culture, and experience in handling and injecting mice is a prerequisite for this position. Additional training will be provided as needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team are required. Candidates with lentivirus, T cell engineering, and/or immunotherapy research experience are preferred.
