The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks a Lab and Research
Technician 2 to work in the laboratory of Dr's. Christ and Peirce-Cottler to perform engineering research and development work and prototyping related to Bio printing and other advanced bio manufacturing projects as needed.
The University of Virginia Board of Visitors has recently invested $3,000,000 in Strategic Investment Funds to foster collaborative research in the area of Advanced Bio manufacturing. A Lab and Research Tech 2 who has the requisite experience level and training background is now essential for bridging across research laboratories that are part of the new UVA SIF-funded Center for Advanced Bio manufacturing in order to initiate and execute collaborative projects that make use of state-of-the-art equipment for 3D-bioprinting, electrospinning/electrospraying, and nano-lithography.
Successful candidates will have an Associate's degree and at least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience. A Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering and 4 years of experience working in/with computer programming and designing and developing engineering (prototyping) solutions, where biologic applications are of particular interest is preferred.
