Job Description: This position will organize, maintain and oversee all equipment related to the BSOM Simulation Center and Healthcare Simulation Unit Center including repairs, maintenance, and inventory. This position will assist in the orientation and the instruction of clinical simulation center users to simulation equipment. This position will collaborate with faculty and center personnel to produce, set up, break down, maintain, and organize equipment and materials for specific simulation sessions and events. This position may run simulation activities as required and be "hands-on" in terms of preparing the Center and Healthcare Simulation Unit for scheduled courses. The position will be responsible for providing operational support to the Simulation Team and other educators of the Clinical Simulation Center. This position will assist in the operation of the Healthcare Simulation Unit, a 45-foot mobile simulation vehicle used for simulation activities in the eastern North Carolina region. On a day-to-day basis, the simulation specialist will be a primary driver and technician for the Healthcare Simulation Unit, ensure the availability of necessary educational supplies and equipment during Healthcare Simulation Unit trips, ensure the maintenance and working order of simulation equipment, and be "hands-on" in terms of preparing the Center and Healthcare Simulation Unit for scheduled courses. This position will also back up the Simulation Specialist in the Brody Simulation Center on days the Healthcare Simulation Unit is not in use. Class B driver's license will be required within six months of employment. Occasional travel required. Occasional work outside normal business hours (8am-5pm required). The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from high school and one year and six months in the field of technology related to the position's role. Computer coursework may be substituted year-for-year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations. Salary Grade Equivalent: 63 (for reduction in force priority purposes only)
