Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)

Bachelor's degree. One (1) year of full time laboratory experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Biology or related area. Additional years of laboratory experience. Experience with animal husbandry, PCR genotyping and knowledge of basic mouse genetics. Working laboratory experience in histology and molecular biology techniques.


Brief Description of Duties:

The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for laboratory work in the lab of Dr. Ute Moll in the Department of Pathology at Stony Brook University. The successful incumbent should have strong communication, organization and record keeping skills. The appointed candidate will be capable will be capable of working independently, but also enjoy being part of an interdisciplinary team of young scientists. Strong motivation, flexibility as well as excellent communication skills are essential.

  • Manage a multi-line mouse colony (includes breeding, culling and genotyping animals and maintaining a database).
  • Histology and immunohistochemistry preparations.
  • Prepare general reagents for the lab.
  • Technical support for the other lab members, including assistance in mouse survival surgeries and mouse dissections.
  • Order supplies for the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
