Department Overview
The Assistant Director, Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) will provide vision and oversight for campus-wide faculty development including training, development, instructional methods, on-line material and obtaining and using instructional design, technology, and assessment. The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing continuous improvement through the Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) by a diverse range of faculty development programs/workshops designed to support teaching, leadership and research.

Position Details

The Center for Innovative Learning Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Director to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Create deep, rich programming, workshops, consulting, and other forms of faculty and instructional development in support of UNTHSC programs.
* Establish working relationships with UNTHSC populations through the design and implementation of institutes, workshops, and other programming informed by the scholarship of teaching and learning.
* Support curricula tailored to specific faculty populations for learning communities and programs in teaching and learning including materials such as teaching guides, blog and other social media posts.
* Collaborate on ongoing assessment of programs and services, analyze workshop activity, surveys, captured footage, and other evidence of impact, and draw on such data for iterative improvement of CIL services.
* Provide support in the areas of course design and instructional design and delivery through conducting consultations and classroom observation services for faculty.
* Assist the Director in representing the CIL's work at briefings, campus visits, conferences, and other academic venues.
* Stay abreast of research, trends, and innovations in teaching and learning as applied to classroom and online learning environments and work with learning designers and communications staff on projects that integrate best pedagogical practices and emerging technologies.
* University-level teaching experience that results in effective presentation of faculty development seminars.
* Current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in teaching and learning both face to face and online.
* Experience in applying research to curricular innovations and faculty development.
* Strong communication skills and service-oriented approach to individuals at all levels and across disciplines.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, academic units, faculty and staff.
* Excellent organizational, analytical, and program development skills.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* PhD.
