Summary of Job Duties
The Farm Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing tools and equipment used in buildings, on grounds, and general maintenance. The Farm Equipment Mechanic is required to perform maintenance and repairs as needed on agriculture equipment, operate equipment to do research plot work safely, and perform maintenance on facilities in a timely manner. The Farm Equipment Mechanic is required to plant and spray research plots without errors and use safe handling practices for pesticides, to harvest plots and record weights, grades, and data from plots accurately, and perform other duties as assigned.

Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write; plus four years of experience in the maintenance and repair of small engines and power tools or related area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures. Ability to read and interpret schematics and repair manuals. Ability to determine problems and solutions concerning equipment and power tool malfunctions and perform necessary repairs. Skill in the repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.
