Dillon Child Study Center
The Dillon Child Study Center is seeking an early childhood special education teacher to work in an Inclusion class staffed by one General Education Teacher, one Special Education Teacher, and two Assistant Teachers; there are 20 students in the class between the ages of 2.9-5.0, 8-10 of whom have IEPs. The Dillon Child Study Center is a fully licensed school for children 2-5 years of age that serves as a laboratory school for college students who are preparing to teach at the early childhood level. Located at the Brooklyn campus, the Dillon Center accommodates 100 children and is committed to a developmental philosophy of education, holding the belief that children’s development follows a predictable pattern, but each child grows in a unique and individual way, supported and encouraged by responsive adults.
The special education teacher is responsible for providing children with a developmentally appropriate teaching environment that will help them to develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally; collaborating with the teaching team to create child-centered and play-based activities for the children; differentiating the curriculum and classroom in order to ensure that all children meet their goals; creating and implementing IEP goals; evaluating the progress of the children on an ongoing basis and implementing the necessary modifications; communicating with parents about their children’s progress.
