Dean of Health Sciences & Nursing
Provide district-wide leadership and general supervision for faculty and staff in health related programs; is committed to meeting the College vision and customer service requirements of providing the highest quality lifelong learning opportunities to anyone, anywhere, anytime and anyway with a focus on real life, real learning.
As a member of Middle Leadership, the Dean of the School of Health Sciences will portray a broad institutional perspective that supports the College's mission, vision, and goals while fostering and creating an environment that strives to anticipate and meet customer needs. A Middle Leader will support a shared leadership culture through participation in and facilitation of teams.
In addition, Middle Leaders will live NTCs operating principles of integrity, respect, learning, collaboration, responsibility, innovation, and service. Duties & Responsibilities: A. Lead planning, budgeting, and resource allocation efforts.
· Provide organizational leadership, with the involvement of staff, to division level planning.
· Lead and conduct annual operational planning (prioritization, implementation, and evaluation) in areas such as facilities, instructional technology, equipment, change objectives, etc.
· Develop, manage, and monitor overall division budget, ensuring well-planned resource identification and allocation to maintain appropriate learning environments.
B. Direct, support, and evaluate the work of staff.
· Hire, supervise and evaluate division staff.
· Promote professional development of staff within the division.
C. Provide direction for the curricula of the division.
· Oversee the supervision of the associate degree programs, technical diploma programs, apprenticeship programs, certificates, contract services, courses and all forms of continuing education, ensuring viable, relevant programming to meet customer needs.
· Ensure program assessment and accreditation processes.
· Direct the investigation, development, and implementation of new program offerings in response to business, industry, labor, government and community needs.
· Ascertain that instructional activities conform to state and district policies.
· Participate in program evaluation and development of enhancement plans.
D. Ensure that the college goals of growth and innovation, strategic partnerships, fiscal strength, continuous improvement, and organizational development are met.
· Monitor division productivity utilizing key performance indicators.
· Conduct annual review of all degree and diploma programs based on established measures.
· Lead necessary adjustments in staff effort, assignment priorities, resources and collaboration with other departments of the college.
E. Coordinate college-wide activities.
· Assist the Vice President for Learning in supervision of instructional support areas.
· Collaborate with Student Services, Administrative and Finance Services to ensure integrated and comprehensive institutional support.
F. Associated responsibilities
· Support the program transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities.
· Implement and support shared programs with other technical colleges.
· Support articulation agreements with high schools.
· Support faculty and the advising of students.
· Address student issues as appropriate.
· Collaborate with other divisions of the college to effectively utilize resources.
· Develop and maintain community, state, and national linkages appropriate to the role of the dean.
· Establish and maintain a working relationship with WTCS state consultants and other technical colleges.
· Participate on committees, projects, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
· List the ongoing input of employers and students through advisory committees, professional organizations, evaluation processes, and other community contacts.
· Monitor the effectiveness of program advisory committees. Qualifications: 1. Master of Science in Nursing degree required and Wisconsin RN licensure preferred.
2. A minimum of five years administrative experience which includes:
• Strong commitment and experience working in a team environment.
• Experience and understanding of alternative instructional delivery methods.
• Creative and innovative leadership and administrative skills.
• Ability to ascertain and meet community, customer, and learning needs.
• Provide effective use of human relations, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, data analysis skills and budget development.
• Experience in conflict resolution.
• Strong budget planning and organizational skills.
• Broad understanding and commitment to promote cultural awareness and diversity within the college community.
3. Three years of teaching experience in health related higher education within the last 10 years.
4. Knowledge of group facilitation, coaching, problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiations, human relations, customer service, communication, curriculum and program development, instructional methodologies, delivery methods, educational planning, and educational administration.
5. Knowledge of personnel evaluation processes, program evaluation processes, and professional development processes.
6. Knowledge of financial planning, budget implementation and costing for educational programming.
7. Knowledge of how to develop and implement partnerships.
8. Skills in data analysis and knowledge of grant management, reports, correspondence, state documentation, recommendations, justification, documents, and memos.
