Master Craftsman Program
This position is responsible for creating and restoring fine art in support of the Master Craftsman Studio. Provides oversight and coordinates within MCS.
May utilize studio art skills to work with plate glass, stained glass, metal, wood, acrylic, plaster, and other mediums as required to complete projects. May utilize glass cutting, glass painting, glass carving, glass fritting, glass polishing, sand blasting, mold making, and other studio art skills as necessary to complete projects.
Will operate sign shop machinery and computer proggraming as necessary to complete sign shop orders. May utilize appropriate technology and software to complete projects. Provides coordination and oversight for ongoing projects within the department. Maintain studio deadlines.
May handle, crate and and/or install fine art. May coordinate with other MCS artists and provide input on concepts and designs. Supports the departments outreach and education initiatives by interacting with students, faculty, and staff at FSU and other external parties as required.
Provides support to and takes direction from the studio manager. Completes projects and assignments in support of the MCS mission.
High school diploma/equivalency and five years of experience. >/P>(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Experience or knowledge of special maintenance for instruments and equipment.
Experience or knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of collections management to include proper handling, installation, preservation and/or maintenance of delicate art or collections.
Ability to interpret technical and artistic designs and create a final product.
ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies and procedures.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
