Job description

Duties: The staff writer will research and write articles for the Annenberg Public Policy Center's award-winning FactCheck.Org, specifically to fill a new position created to debunk fake news that circulates on social media. is one of several organizations working with Facebook to help identify and label viral fake news stories. Articles written by the staff writer will examine the factual accuracy of stories flagged by Facebook and its users as potentially fake. The quality of the articles must meet the highest standards of journalism and scholarship.

This position will have an initial 1-year term, with continuation beyond 1 year contingent on project funding and performance.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in journalism, political science or other relevant field and at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The candidate should have writing experience and provide examples of writing. Finalists for the position also will need to take a writing test.
