General Summary: The University of North Georgia's College of Education is seeking applications for part-time, non-benefited faculty supervisors. This position will provide observation and evaluation of practicum and intern students in the Teacher Education program, specifically Elementary/Special Education. The supervisor will provide guidance and direction to undergraduate and/or graduate students in their field placements. The faculty member will need a flexible schedule to coordinate observation and conference meetings with the students and their mentor teachers in varied school locations. The supervisor will attend scheduled meetings and /or trainings with students and faculty, school districts, mentor teachers, and administration. Successful applicants should be able to be objective in evaluation and grading students and foster our teacher candidates' confident and efficacy in teaching. Supervisors will need to be present in their partner school a minimum of once per week regardless of scheduled student observations in order to build relationships with administration and mentor teachers and follow up with their students.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: Supervisor responsibilities are listed but not limited to the items below:
  • Scheduling and leading our students through an initial tour of their Professional Development Community (PDC) school
  • Meeting with principal, assistant principal or school designee to assign mentor teachers to each student based on PSC requirements for certification
  • Observing and evaluating our students in accordance with the requirements listed in the specific program's handbook (including a minimum of an introductory meeting, 4 documented observations and an exit interview for each student)
  • Attending and assisting during Orientation for our students
  • Attending required supervisor training sessions
  • Attending required PDC meetings
  • Attending required edTPA trainings
  • Maintaining ongoing contact with your students regarding placement or edTPA questions
  • Holding edTPA sessions with your students to ensure they are on track with edTPA requirements
  • Providing ongoing support to your students during practicum and student teaching placements
  • Providing guidance and direction when student issues occur including Professional Development Plan (PDP) meetings and follow-up

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Doctorate in education preferred, but ABD, EdS, and Master's degrees will be considered.
  • Georgia teaching certificate preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential. Technology skills and good interpersonal skill are required.
