Job Summary We are seeking a microbiologist to join our Biological Materials and Biosynthesis Team through the New Materials Institute. The selected candidate will be a creative and devoted experimentalist, and will collaborate with other members of the team to develop new concepts and implement commercial biomaterial applications. The candidate is expected to provide mentorship to peers and junior staff members in methodologies and experimental techniques in genetic engineering and functional biological assays. We are seeking a candidate with a working knowledge of microbial genetics and CRISPR manipulation of bacterial metabolism to explore new ideas in engineering greater productivity of microbial systems towards novel and commercially viable bio-products. Through individual and team research contributions the candidate will help establish their team's success in addressing technical challenges with global impact. This position will involve significant hands-on laboratory work in addition to coordination of laboratory staff and resources. Supervision of staff and students will also occur. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in related field OR Equivalent combination of master's degree plus skills and experience. (non-Ph.D. cannot submit final grant applications & reports, which are usually done by PI/faculty) Area-specific certification and/or training may be required and other training will be provided as appropriate.
