Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)
Doctoral degree in Biological, Biochemical or Medical Sciences and experience in: Basic cellular and molecular biologic techniques: tissue culture, RNA and protein isolation, Western blot analysis, RT-PCR analysis, experience in working with in vitro cultures of mammalian cell lines, 3D culture of gastrointestinal epithelial cells, Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescent techniques and experience with fluorescence microscopy, RNA in situ hybridization,The field of gastrointestinal stem cell research and research related to GI cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, Data analysis using Microsoft package software, and basic statistical analysis, The applicant will be expected to work well as a team member and independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Maintenance and handling of mice colonies and genetics of animal models
Data analysis and manuscript preparation, including producing figures for manuscripts,Laboratory maintenance, including keeping a detailed laboratory notebook. Assist in supervising or training of undergraduate and/or graduate students

Brief Description of Duties:
The successful individual will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Medicine. The overall research goal of this project is to study mechanisms regulating physiological and pathophysiological conditions of the gastrointestinal tract using stem cells lineage tracing in mouse models. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on an independent project(s) and as a team member using animal and cell culture models.

  • Conduct experiments in animal models, maintain breeding stocks, genotype and monitor health on a regular basis.
  • Cell culture and biochemical techniques such as RNA isolation, real-time RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescent, and Western blotting will be used to complement the animal models, and data analysis.
  • Literature searches; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and PI.
  • Write and prepare manuscripts and/or grant submissions based on the experimental findings.
Special Notes: FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
