Lab PRA - Neurology

The Department of Neurology seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant in the laboratory of Randall J. Cohrs, PhD. This lab is funded by the NIH to investigate the molecular biology of varicella zoster virus latency.

Job Responsibilities: This is a full time position located in Research Complex II, on the AMC campus in Aurora. Working hours are 8:00 to 5:00 weekdays. The PRA will be expected to work independently under the supervision of the principal investigator in the design, performance and reporting of experiments.

Duties include: Laboratory duties include: tissue culture and virus infection, RNA DNA extraction, qPCR. Clerical/other duties include: record keeping and normal lab activities some of which are shared with other PRAs.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or equivalent discipline. Required items include: experience with tissue culture and work with nucleic acids.Upon hire, the applicant will be expected to pass the University required examinations concerning handling of hazardous chemicals and human biological specimens.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous laboratory experience with tissue culture, virology and molecular biology including PPR.

Salary and Benefits:
