Under the general direction of the Associate Director Business Services, this position serves as the Financial Specialist Senior for the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH) - Department of Medicine (DOM). The department consists of over 800 faculty and staff in 12 divisions representing clinical operations, educational units, service units, research activities and administrative units. The department has a combined annual operating budget of over $240 million derived from UW Health clinical income, extramural research, direct support from the UW SMPH and UW Health, revenue producing accounts, education accounts, and graduate school accounts, contributions to UW Medical Foundation (UMWF) accounts, and investment earnings and appreciation. The operations of the departments are complex due to the interrelated activities with UW Health, the UW SMPH and the UMWF.
This position will independently analyze, process and audit a variety of complex department financial transactions connected to a diverse set of funding sources in an evolving set of rules, regulations and business practices imposed by the University, UW Health, UWMF, grant agencies and department policies. This position performs independent accounting services for the department, and in doing so collaborates with several other functions on and off campus including UW Health Finance and the SMPH Dean's Office.
50% - 100% FTE; Mon-Fri flexible to meet needs of the department.
