Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Provides solutions to networking problems of a basic to moderate nature to ensure user productivity. Diagnoses and repairs simple to moderately complex problems in response to customer reported incidents. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains basic to moderately complex software and hardware. Writes and tests documentation as directed. May train and/or develop materials for customer training.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 1 year experience in computer systems development and modifications; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional certification: MCSA, CISSP, or GIAC

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role. Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management systems (SCCM). Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery. Hands on experience in networking, routing, and switching. Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms. Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude. Excellent communication skills. BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline. Experience with Hyper-V environments. Mastery of IT problem management methods and practices and new and innovative customer support methods and technologies. Moderately complex to complex problem solving skills. Knowledge of moderately complex to complex analytical methods. Ability to plan, implement, and manage problem management systems designed to effectively recognize, report, track and resolve problems. Communicates effectively, both written and orally with agency management. Knowledge of multiple computer environments, platforms, and technologies and in-depth knowledge of the agency's products.
