Research Coordinator, PMI - #603301

The Pathogen and Microbiome Institute at Northern Arizona University seeks a Research Coordinator toperform basic and applied research in the areas of bacterial pathogen research. The top candidates for this position should have experience with command line linux usage, programming in Python, comparative genomics informatics tools, molecular genetic analyses, including DNA isolation, qPCR assay design, CRISPR, data interpretation, DNA sequencing, genotyping with fluorescent DNA fragment analysis, and the ability to work under BSL2 conditions. There is a possibility of future work in the MGGen BSL3 laboratory that would involve handling bacterial pathogens such as Burkholderia pseudomallei, Yersinia pestis, and Francisella tularensis. Extra emphasis will be given to candidates with programming skills and experience with CRISPR-Cas9 modification. The successful candidate will be expected to be the first author on peer-reviewed publications, supervise undergraduate students, and participate in grant writing.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field for positions involving future BSL3 work, additional qualifications will include: Willingness and ability to pass a Department of Justice Select Agent Program Security Risk Assessment and willingness and ability to participate in occupational health monitoring required by Northern Arizona University.

Annual Salary: $44,288 - $54,010
