Associate Director of Regional Alumni Programs



I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts. DAR seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GW's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care

The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking an Associate Director of Regional Alumni Programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, Student, Young Alumni, and Regional Programs, the Associate Director serves as the liaison and primary point of contact between regionally-based GW alumni and the university. The Associate Director develops and implements engagement strategies that align the goals of the regional alumni networks with the university's mission and strategy. The Associate Director is also an active and contributing team member within the GW Office of Alumni Relations.

Duties include:

Developing and implementing engagement strategies for top priority regions. This includes establishing program goals with volunteers and campus partners, setting appropriate budgets, and developing success metrics.

Managing alumni volunteers, including recruitment, training, leadership development, succession planning, gift solicitation, and overall stewardship.

Supporting regional alumni networks with event planning and outreach resources, including event posting and email communications.

Meeting regularly, both in-person and via conference call, with regional alumni network committees, volunteer leadership, and potential volunteers.

Promoting a culture of philanthropy, and facilitate engagement that moves alumni along the pipeline, including discovery cultivation, qualification, solicitation and stewardship.

Assisting in the management and implementation of high-profile regional events and special events conducted by the Office of Alumni Relations, including activities during Colonials Weekend.

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus three years of relevant professional experience.

Significant experience in volunteer management and event planning is preferred.

Proven ability to build professional relationships across departments and institutions.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively, and work on weekends and after normal business hours.

Established flexibility and initiative; the ability to work independently, as well as thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.

Demonstrated strong writing, planning and organizational skills.

Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
