Post-Doctoral Scientist



I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:

The Post-doctoral Scientist will perform the following duties:

-Conducts experiments in vitro and in vivo using optogenetics tools, all-optical electrophysiology methods and advanced data analysis techniques. The experimental models involve human iPS-CMs and an adult rat model for optical control of cardiac electromechanical activity.

-Designs and conducts experiments.

-Analyzes data, prepares and submits manuscripts for publication.

-Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Require’s a PhD in the field or in a related area.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

An ideal candidate should have strong quantitative skills and adequate knowledge of either cardiac electrophysiology and/or optogenetics/molecular biology and/or cardiac metabolism.

In addition, they are expected to have strong background in at least one of the following: 1) molecular biology techniques, plasmids, viral vectors, gene delivery; 2) optical imaging/optics/electronics; 3) small animal surgery; 4) patch clamp; 5) computer programming/physics/mathematical modeling.

Evidence of good writing skills and publication record during the Ph.D. studies is a plus.

The following background will be helpful – at least two of the following: optics, optical mapping, optogenetics, cardiac electrophysiology, molecular biology and viral vectors, patch clamp experience, small animal surgery, ample Matlab computer programming skills.
