COORDINATOR LAB RESOURCES
Duties: The Coordinator Lab Resources will assume full responsibility for coordinating specimen collection, processing, shipment, storage, management, and communicating between clinical project teams, the clinical lab, the TTAB, the clinical research unit, sponsors, and the research labs. The Coordinator Lab Resources will be responsible for the development of sample generation workflow for each project within the 2-PREVENT Translational Center of Excellence and the therapeutic cancer clinical trials coordinated by the Abramson Cancer Center Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Program. Responsibilities will include 1) tracking schedules for sample collection as appropriate, 2) coordinating with study teams and the outpatient laboratory/infusion area in the collection of blood and biological samples, 3) Processing samples as required by each protocol and shipping those samples per protocol requirements.
Additional responsibilities will include: 1) Maintaining a logging/labeling system to ensure the status of each sample is known and documented while protecting patient confidentiality, 2) monitoring laboratory supplies and making supply requests as needed, 3) coordinating collection of tissue samples with Pathology department or clinical/research staff as appropriate and 4) Communicating with sponsors/CROs as needed and resolve queries related to samples.
This individual will assist with the management and coordination of sample workflows from each project within the 2 PREVENT Breast Translational Center of Excellence and the Abramson Cancer Center Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Program. Core activities will include development of specimen workflows from each project including but not limited to coordinating specimen collection, processing samples, labeling samples, storing samples - both physically in the research laboratory freezer space and within the sample inventory electronic management systems - preparing samples for shipment, managing laboratory inventory, and reporting and communicating laboratory specimen inventory to collaborators and the research teams
Qualifications: The minimum of an Associates' degree in a scientific or related field and 3 to 5 years of relevant laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor's degree is a plus. This position requires careful attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills.
In addition, excellent time management and planning skills will be essential for this position as samples ascertainment will be both predictable and unpredictable depending on the study needs.
The candidate for this position should possess basic laboratory processing and management experience. Computer literacy with knowledge of Microscoft Word, Excel. RedCap, LabVantage, and Pumpkin experience a plus.
