Duties: The Associate Director for Administrative Units and Financial Operations for Provost Administrative Affairs ('PAA') acts as primary operational and analytical resource for the Senior Director, independently resolving time-sensitive and critical requests, problem solving and trouble-shooting issues. This individual will be a visionary to improve the financial processes and financial reporting communication. The Associate Director acts as Financial Analyst, working closely with Senior Leadership and Directors to provide analytical support, including variance and flux analysis (relative to budget and historical performance) to determine areas requiring deeper analysis, and conduct further investigation into variances. This position maintains a key role in the annual budget process, including consultation with Directors in preparation of the budget, review of the budget submission for substantive and mechanical accuracy.
The Associate Director provides leadership and management during procedure restructuring, software transitions, including training, as well as managing and streamlining reports and analyses in these areas. Given the entrepreneurial nature of the Provost Administrative Affairs, the individual in this position must possess a combination of big picture, intellectual curiosity, detailed thinking, and exceptional communication skills.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required and 5-7 years of experience. Demonstrated strong financial, analytical and modeling skills. Demonstrated decision making and problem solving ability as well as excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service oriented. Capability to independently manage multiple projects from design through final presentation. Ability to work under demanding timelines. Ability to see the big picture while effectively analyzing details. Knowledge of University of Pennsylvania accounting systems preferred but not required. Experience in higher education preferred.
