Usual Duties: Responsible for the laboratory safety, hazardous material and waste control programs for the University. Assists with spill prevention and emergency response. Develops and maintains the chemical hygiene plans and the promotion of a safe environment for the campus community to include training.
Other Requirements for the Position: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, chemical or industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, or related fields. Two (2) years of related experience in chemical safety, radiation safety, environmental safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field required. Certification in comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene is preferred; experience related to the development and management of chemical safety programs may be considered in lieu of the advanced certification preferred. Radiation and Chemical Hygiene Safety Officer Certifications preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
