Research, Editorial, and Program Assistants provide research, transcription, editing, and/or logistical and administrative support for programs and events at the University of Virginia's Miller Center. The Miller Center is a nonpartisan institute that seeks to expand understanding of the presidency, policy, and political history, providing critical insights for the nation's governance challenges. Miller Center programs fall broadly in the categories of academic, public, and policy programs and include a range of primary and secondary research projects, academic and other conferences, and public events.
The Center seeks two Research, Editorial, and Program Assistants to work up to 29 hours/week to provide support to the Center's "American Forum" program and its executive producer and host. Responsibilities for one Assistant include researching potential topics and guests, drafting scripts, assisting a audiovisual producer in development of graphics package, and supporting promotion and distribution. Responsibilities for the other Assistant include identifying and packaging program clips for use in social and other media.

Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, using standard U.S. English grammar
Detail-oriented and organized
Demonstrated ability to undertake research independently, synthesize material, and present it in coherent and compelling ways
Demonstrated ability to meet recurring deadlines
