Job Description


Answer phones; provide general bookstore and C-store information and sales support for high volume retail operation. Assist customers with purchases, operate cash register and assist with data entry. Receive, price, and stock merchandise. Perform operational duties at buyback and rental check-in at end of semesters. Take part in cyclical and fiscal physical inventory.

JOB OBJECTIVES

  1. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES - To provide assistance and support with all aspects of the bookstore operations to the bookstore staff, college faculty and staff members, students and local patrons.



Performance is acceptable when:
  1. First line of customer contact with the JCCC Bookstore. Greet customers in a friendly manner.
  2. Perform cashiering duties: returns, exchanges, inner-account transfers and software purchases
  3. Accurately place created shelf tags on merchandise shelves per inventory management system.
  4. Stock shelves, check in orders, and provide sales floor assistance as needed.
  5. Work buyback window during buyback 3 times a year.
  6. Participate in cyclical and fiscal physical inventories.
  7. Ability to complete detailed work accurately, communicate effectively, prioritize, and have organizational skills.


  1. AMAZON ORDER PROCESSING - Coordinate with Lead Merchandise Receiver/Return Specialist the completion of Amazon orders.

Performance is acceptable when:
  1. Pick and pack web orders accurately using inventory management system.
  2. Accurately ship orders through UPS shipping
  3. Track orders and complete paper work on Amazon orders


  1. SERVE AS CUSTOMER SERVICE LIAISON - Handle customer inquiries and complaints. Provide information to new customers.



Performance is acceptable when:
  1. Customers receive the service and information required.
  2. Customer complaints are satisfied or passed to supervisor in a timely manner.

High school graduate or equivalent required. Successful candidate must be dependable, organized, detail-oriented team member with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
