General Description of Position: The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing healthcare to KSU students. They will also be expected to work independently in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act established treatment protocols and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Evaluate the physical and psychological health status of the patient through a comprehensive health history and physical examination.
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, EKG and comparable procedures.
Plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care based on assessment of normal/abnormal findings from the history, physical examination, laboratory reports and existing protocols.
Assess the need for consultation and collaboration with other healthcare team members: refer patient to appropriate campus/community resources. Serve as consultant to other nursing personnel in areas of physical assessment and healthcare planning.
Initiate and maintain records pertinent to care provided to the patient, legal documents, and other health/nursing care reports. When appropriate, participate in joint review of services rendered, guidelines and protocols. This may include chart reviews, case reviews and patient evaluations.
Serves on Medical Staff and other committees as requested.
Current Kansas License to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Graduation from a Nursing Education program approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing
1-2 years experience as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in family practice.
