The part-time Counselor is responsible for providing intake assessments, individual and group counseling and family consultation as appropriate. The part-time Counselor may be asked to assist at the daily walk in clinic to complete triage evaluations and to staff the front desk as available when necessary. The incumbent will assist in crisis management by seeing clients on an urgent basis after triage and accompany clients to the hospital for emergency evaluation when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work and at least two years of counseling experience, which may have been completed as part of a training experience, preferably in a college counseling center. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities:
*Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity to cross cultural issues
*Ability to provide individual, group, and couples counseling, and family consultation
*Ability to provide rapid assessment of student needs at triage
*Must work one evening per week, Tuesday or Wednesday, and occasional Saturday morning hours during Fall and Spring semesters
*Ability to provide consultation to WIC team members, TCS staff, TCS trainees, administration, faculty, staff, students, and families regarding mental health issues
*Ability to participate as a member of one of the department's two Critical Incident Stress management teams to provide debriefing and other interventions for traumatized community members
*Ability to provide supervision to trainees as assigned
*Ability to provide education in areas of expertise for the department's didactic seminar for pre-doctoral interns, and other forums
*Ability to assist in the hiring of new staff and also the selection of trainees
*Ability to assist in the orientation of large groups of new and transfer students and their parents to Temple University and to counseling center services Preferred:
*Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology and licensure in the state of Pennsylvania, or masters in social work and licensure as a clinical social worker (LCSW) in Pennsylvania
