The University of South Dakota's Beacom School of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Health Services Administration beginning in the 2017-18 academic year. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the applicant's qualifications.

The successful candidate must be academically qualified to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes in courses in health services administration. Expertise in Long-term Care and Health Economics or Finance is preferred, but other areas of Health Services Administration will be considered. The program offers both a Bachelor's degree in Health Service Administration and a specialization with the MBA program. The Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom.

Excellence in teaching is expected, both in the classroom and in mentoring and advising students outside of class. Duties include an annual teaching load of eighteen (18) credit hours (typically, six courses), engaging in related scholarly research, and service for the Department, profession, and broader community.
Required: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Health Services Administration or a related field is required, although ABDs who will complete their degree by the position's start date may be considered. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Health Services Administration or a related field from an AACSB-International accredited business school is preferred. A demonstrated passion for outstanding teaching is required. In addition, candidates must have a record of or potential for contribution to the scholarship of health services administration. Candidates must be willing to teach courses in both the traditional and online environments. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and dedication to engagement, service and the public good. Candidates with experience working with diverse student, staff, and faculty are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:  The best applicant will have a primary area of teaching in Long-term Care and Health Economics and/or Finance. Related business experience in health services administration is strongly preferred. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position's teaching fields. Experience teaching in an online environment and working with classroom technology is helpful.
