The Utah Valley University Department of Music invites applications for the position of Lecturer - Music Theory. The successful candidate will teach music theory classes and may also include classes in pedagogy and literature depending on candidate's qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in music theory or performance from an accredited college, university, or conservatory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of classical and jazz/contemporary theory.
  • Knowledge to develop curriculum and teach assigned courses.
  • Knowledge to communicate (written and oral) with a wide variety of students, faculty and others.
  • Proven skills as an accomplished teacher.
  • Skills in interviewing and placement of students.

Preferred Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in music theory or performance from an accredited college, university, or conservatory, and proven record of successful teaching experience in higher education.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods during class

Pay Range: $48,000 to $52,000
