Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director, Global Student Success's primary function is to advance the mission of GSS through oversight of daily operations, program development, process improvements, data analytics, and marketing/communications. Responsibilities include designing new programs and overseeing operations of existing programs, collecting and analyzing data related to international student success, researching and developing best practices for effective service delivery, and taking proactive steps to improve communications to students, faculty and staff.

The Assistant Director takes an active role in enhancing existing programs and systems to better serve students. S/he serves as an advocate and liaison for international students to internal and external constituencies. Overall, the Assistant Director is a change agent to promote international student success, while maintaining the mission of GSS, NU Global and Northeastern University.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, student services, teaching, ESL, social science research, communications or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in student services related position with administrative experience
• Experience working with international student populations as well as working, living, or study abroad required; high level of commitment to international student success.
• Proficiency in another language preferred in addition to strong command of English.

• Detail-oriented with sound administrative, organizational and operational skills.
• Experience in data analysis (Excel/SPSS/SAS/Stata) and survey research; proven analytical and report preparation skills.
• Tech-savvy and experience with online platforms and social media strategies. Experience with content marketing, web design, graphic design, data visualization and/or multimedia is desirable.
• Strong project and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to diverse constituencies in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Strong team player (whether as lead or member) and positive thinker.
• Ability to stay focused with excellent follow-through.
• Flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Ability to deliver effective presentations and facilitate productive meetings.
• Understanding of and ability to use and learn technologies, systems, and tools common in higher education (e.g. Banner, Salesforce, Apply Yourself, FolderWave, Content Management Systems etc.).
• Commitment to diversity in the work environment.
