The Annes Lab is looking for a full-time Life Science Technician II to assist with management of their mouse colony. The primary role of this individual will be to perform genotyping using DNA isolation, PCR and electrophoresis. Additionally, the successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks including preparing tissue for histological analysis, immunostaining, microscopy, and limited analysis of data. The hire will also be responsible for maintaining detailed experimental records and will provide technical support to other laboratory personnel.
Special skills, knowledge, or training required, including tools or equipment used:
  • At least two years of previous laboratory experience or two years of college coursework in related scientific discipline required.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated professionalism in working with colleagues (both internal and external laboratory users).
  • Must be capable of and willing to pay strict attention to detail, including following written and oral instruction. Familiarity with animal colony management, DNA isolation and genotyping is required.
Unusual working conditions:
  • Animal facility with rodents. This is not appropriate for someone with a rodent allergy or who is opposed to the use of rodents in research.
