Duties: Research specialist. Must be highly experienced, independent, and competent in management of research projects and design of experiments. Must be able to analyze and interpret data independently. Candidate will act as lab manager and perform experiments examining the physiological roles and pharmacological properties of parasite (schistosome) ion channels. Candidate will also examine the role of host immune defenses in parasite responses to drug treatment, and participate in other projects as required. Position requires extensive experience in schistosome biology and husbandry, pharmacology, cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, animal handling, and training and orientation of new personnel.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Biomedical field and at least 3-5 years experience required. Masters degree strongly preferred. Experience with cell culture, biochemistry, and pharmacology required. Experience with molecular biology and animal handling required. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills are necessary
