Posting Summary:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Virginia, seeks a Research Associate candidate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Uta Erdbrgger, MD. Dr. Erdbrgger is studying the diagnostic and functional role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as novel biomarkers for endothelial dysfunction or end-organ damage in hypertension and various renal diseases in blood and urine. Her translational studies are complemented by rodent models using state-of-the-art techniques of EV detection including imaging flow cytometry, resistive pulse sensing and cryo-electron microscopy.

Candidates must have a PhD in Biology, Immunology or Pathology or equivalent in hand by start date, and a proven ability to lead a project and supervise and train laboratory personnel in a collaborative setting. Duties also include the formulation and testing of hypotheses; critical analysis of data; preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals; making presentations at local, regional and national levels. Therefore, excellent communication and writing skills are required.
