Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Internationally focused degree or international living experience required.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- Minimum three years experience in program administration within higher education, involving attention to detail and data management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Complete fluency in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
- Experience using technology and computing resources to provide information, communicate across a distance, and manage data.
- Experience in academic and career advising, university admissions, and working with international credentials is preferred.



Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for University Special students, the Visiting International Student Program (VISP) Coordinator position will assist in growing the overall VISP student population with a particular focus on those in the Chinese speaking world (China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia). The position will focus on working with campus stakeholders to facilitate the enrollment of visiting international students in selected university credit courses, institutes, and unique programs - including those offered in the summer. The position will coordinate the advising, admission, enrollment, housing, and orientation of these visitors to UW-Madison. This position will also be working very closely with other VISP coordinators and the Assistant Dean on all matters involving the unit's responsibility for international students at UW: formal international exchange students, English as a Second language (ESL) students, the general VISP population as well as students participating in non-credit international programming. The VISP coordinator will be expected to work independently, but within an environment of teamwork and support of colleagues. As well they must have a passion for the institutional commitment of making international connections and to developing global citizens and leaders.
