Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in biology, zoology or related field is required; master's degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Experience advising undergraduates in a higher education setting is preferred. Experience with program evaluation is highly desired.
The Department of Integrative Biology (formerly Department of Zoology) offers several high-enrollment gateway courses as well as key courses that are required by several bioscience majors on campus. The student services coordinator advises approximately 300 students in the zoology major. This position is shared with another 50% student services coordinator with the same job duties.
Ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds and/or with diverse personalities is essential.
Ability to exercise judgement in student academic affairs and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong computer/analytical skills (office applications, student records database).
Experience working with data and statistics preferred; ability to develop queries to collect appropriate data, and present results with accuracy and clarity.
Strong verbal, interpersonal, organizational and writing skills.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.
Self-motivated and ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
